FAREWELL ISOBEL

Two original drawings which inspired the installation ‘Farewell Isobel’ are now available for purchase

The two pencil and watercolour drawings were the first stage in creating the larger oil paintings titled ‘On grass you rest’ and ‘But suffocation creep’, which were part of the 2020 installation for the Central Saint Martins degree show. ‘Farewell Isobel’ attempts to capture the bittersweet nostalgia many often experience during times of upheaval, whether this is through playful scales, emotionally driven writings, sculptural souvenirs or paintings

Souvenirs have often proven to be a vastly effective tool in narrating things such as grief, heightening objects to places of stature where many can pair tales specific to their own experiences with a singular object. This can be seen in sculptures ‘Butter kiss’ (2020) and ‘Crunch’ (2020) which are scattered throughout the installation, with some being hidden on the tops of paintings, arranged as a wreath underneath the headstone of ‘On grass you rest’ (2020) or even singular sculptures cushioned upon a dedicated plinth
